Everyone knows I used to love the technicooler from Gale Banks Engineering. I sold a bunch of them. For the money at the time it was a really nice package. Fast forward to now. After several people experienced the blown boot of death and needed to get all of the boots warranteed and then needed to get the pipes replaced when Gale figured out the stock design was better, I decided to re-evaluate the situation. Numerous people have had the studs that hold the hi-ram intake to the intake manifold pull the threads out of the intake. I have installed a few of them and have not had that problem, but I can see where the problem could happen because the studs really aren't thick enough in that area.
The next issue is that a few of the intercoolers I recieved were dented and damaged. The response was to box it back up and ship it back to california to have a new one shipped to me. Now when I say dented ask Unbroken how his came. The core was dented on the top. Its not bad we said and just put it in anyways. Another one came in with the tabs broken off where the rubber grommets hold it to the core support. There was NO damage to the box, so it had to have been dropped at Gale Banks and then thrown into the box. The one that came in broken was also missing alot of the hardware. Luckily Gale Banks shipped it out rather quickly.
My biggest problem with the company came last month. We installed an intercooler into an F-550 that generally carries alot of weight. If the truck isn't moving it isn't earning a living. We all know how that works. One of the Blown Boots of Death occured since this kit did not have the new pipe in it. So I called Gale Banks Engineering to get the updated tube sent to me. I told them I needed it as fast as possible since the truck needs to move the 26,000lb load to complete the job. So they told me no problem. The updated tube arrives the next morning. I think great. Only problem is that Gale Banks decided to package the tube in such a way to make it weigh 34lbs and priority over night shipped it using my FedEx account which I did not authorize. When I got my statement at the end of the month, I called them to ask why they used my account to ship their warranty part. I was told that I had to have authorized the use of the account. When I told the lady on the phone that no one had asked my permission and the reason they had my FedEx account number on file was for the previous shipments of intercoolers since I wanted to see if it was UPS doing the damaging. So basically it was my fault and I thought it was a good idea to spend 144 dollars to ship a pipe and a boot.
Next thing wrong with Gale Banks. They do not allow dealers to place pics of products on our websites with pricing. They have decided to eliminate internet sales except if you order it from Gale Banks directly. I got a nice letter in the mail telling me to take it off my website or legal action would be taken. I removed them from the website and have decided to look elsewhere for intercoolers. I only ever got intercoolers from them because in my experience all of their modules are dog shit.
I recieved a call from Gale Banks today asking to update my information about the company. He asked my job title. I told him owner. He asked my address. I gave it to him. He asked my web address. I said www.gogodiesel.com (http://www.gogodiesel.com) but I have taken everything off of my website per their request and have decided to make it a part of my day to tell everyone the story about them using my FedEx account and then calling me a liar. I explained to him that I no longer purchase their products and tell every person to buy something else.
