Ford Power Stroke Diesel Electric Fan<O:p</O:p
Flex-a-lite has developed a new Diesel electric fan for 1998-2003 F250/F350 Ford Power Stroke Diesels (part #278). Eliminate the stock belt-driven fan and shroud with the Power Stroke electric fan to improve gas mileage, horsepower, torque and air conditioning temperature.

<O:p</O:p<O:p</O:p
The new Power Stroke Diesel fan measures 30” x 26” x 4 ½” pulls up to 6000 cubic feet per minute and draws 28-36 amps. Features a fabricated diamond plated aluminum shroud with mounting points made specifically for the radiator. The variable speed control module independently operates the fans from 60% to 100% depending on engine temperature and a/c activation. An optional manual switch (Flex-a-lite #31148) allows the electric fan to be turned off through water crossings. Custom brackets make this a bolt-on installation, and should be limited to GVW of 18,000 lbs.<O:p</O:p

The 7.3L fan is huge. I think it frees up something like 20hp or more.

They don't like us because of our PCM controlled fan.

wouldn't that make it easier for them? If the PCM tells the fan when to turn on and off they would just need to able to spice into it.

If you tow alot this will not work, Kaniers (from other sites) tried one and could not tow with it, kept over heating... He was towing heavy (12,000 lbs+) but still...

What was the issue are we sure it was directly related to the fan?

He was running without a fan for a long time, then when he started pulling the horse trailer more it started to get hot. Added the flex fan and then it overheated, went back to the stock setup and no issues. I think they say not for towing over 8000 or something like that in there advertisement?

It is odd as I had looked at what the electric fan pulls as far as CFM. It looked like it moved more air then the stock fan, however the 2 small fans may create hot spots instead of the large single. It does say to limit the truck to 18,000 GVW. While he was a little over with 12k behind him, I wonder if the variable switch was letting it get up to 100%.
