FCSD is committed to providing technical support prior to the new 2008 model year Ford Super Duty vehicles arriving at your dealership in January. With your assistance, this will be one of the best launches in the history of Ford Motor Company. Ford Customer Service Division has a number of support efforts in place to ensure a successful launch. The following are some of the launch support efforts that are available to your fixed operations team:

Below are materials your dealership needs to properly service these vehicles:
Rotunda Essential Special Service Tools (ESSTs): began shipment on November 28, 2006. There are 17 new ESSTs for the 6.4L diesel engine (See Attachment 1 for details).
Rotunda Equipment will offer 6.4L engine stand adapters and a cab-off procedure tie down kit for dealer purchase.
Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) & Portable Diagnostic System (PDS) software Version B47 (or subsequent version) supporting the Ford Super Duty provided to dealers January 15, 2007. Reminder: Dealers should always update their (IDS / PDS) to the latest available software.
Five new 6.4L diagnostic tests listed below:
Fuel System High Side Pressure Test - to test the injector pump and test repair robustness after a high side fuel system repair
Fuel System Low side Pressure Test - to test the integrity of the HFCM, fuel lines and connections
Turbocharger Test - this test pre-selects PIDs the technician should be monitoring when diagnosing a turbo issue
EGR Test - this test uses the same philosophy as the turbo test, ensuring proper diagnosis of system failure modes and interactions by monitoring and displaying all system inputs at once eliminating the possible guess work when diagnosing
Diesel Particulate Filter Manual Regeneration - to clean a DPF when needed after an upstream component has failed and loaded the DPF with soot/oil
PTS website: updated with the latest Ford Super Duty service information; Workshop Manual, Wiring Diagrams Manual and Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnostic (PC/ED) Manual - available on the PTS website on December 29, 2006 and on DVD January 27, 2007.

Technicians will have to be 6.4L trained no later than the end of 2007 calendar year or they will no longer be considered Ford STST Diesel Engine Certified.

It is important that diesel customers view this 30 minute DVD to understand the
importance of diesel engine maintenance.UNIQUE 6.4L DIESEL ENGINE REQUIREMENTS
New 6.4L diesel engine requires Ultra-low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) fuel
ULSD contains no more than 15ppm sulfur versus Low Sulfur Diesel fuel that contains no more than 500 ppm sulfur. The ULSD fuel is reverse compatible with earlier model year vehicles
Use of red dye diesel fuel (refer to dealer letter dated November 17, 2006 for details)
Ford recommends that customers utilize the new EPA labels to determine the proper fuels for their Ford Diesel Engines. The presence of Red Dye alone is no longer a good indication of high sulfur content and should not be used as a basis to determine warranty eligibility
New diesel engine oil requirements (refer to dealer letter dated October 27, 2006 for details)
CJ-4 low ash engine oil required for the 6.4L diesel engine
New 6.4L diesel engine maintenance interval changes (refer to the 2008 Diesel Supplement for details)
Normal Schedule - 10,000 miles/400 hours oil change interval and 20,000 miles/800 hours fuel filters change interval
Special Operating Conditions - 5,000 miles/200 hours for oil change and 10,000 miles/400 hours fuel filters change
New low ash 6.4L diesel engine additives for both cetane and anti-gel performance improverFCSD SUPPORT
