Hey guys, new to the site, I was a 7.3 guy but just bought an 07

Couple of questions

- Can an 07 tune run pilot injection? If so, any downsides?
- Any negatives to locking the converter in 2-5 on a mellow-driven daily driver?

Looking to tune pretty quick here but I am a "mostly under 2000 rpm" guy and want a decent program for that area

Thanks in advance!

If the tables are still in the processor then it will run pilot injection. Deppending on where you are in the country, it won't be a good idea to try it. Since they have cold start problems already, trying to make it fire twice instead of once isn't worth the hassle. Locking the converter down low can lead to some strange bogging issues if you aren't used to it. But there is no downside to locking it, durability wise.

Thanks for the quick reply.

What would you recommend I do for SCT tunes?

I am in VA but active duty AF, so I could end up anywhere, I'd love the pilot injection, but no use chancing it.

Also looks like locking the converter is out the way I drive, the 6.0 is soft to me already, great point on the low rpm engagement, my guess is it would fall on its face. I literally never break 2000 rpm unless I am towing and need the power and/or the EGTs are coming up

I tow 10K or so periodically, watch gauges closely, and looking for a not-to smoky daily driver with real solid shifts and a TC lockup that hits good and solid like shift as well

Trying to get as good mileage as I can, and reall just want a little more $hit and git LOL

I'd probably ask for tunes loaded 1 over and 1 under your ideal recommendation to experiment. Any opinions?

One last question, understand for off road use, but does an EGR elimination significantly help it from puking when your foot is in it?

Thanks a bunch, I was pretty comfortable with the 7.3, but it looks like these have a few additional quirks I need to get to know :)

Once you get the SCT and the new found power, you will find yourself breaking 2000 Rpms very addicting. Doug has some nice tunes. The EGR elimintaion will help with puking, but some trucks puke from the factory.
BTY, Talk about whatever you want to here, you dont need to say "for off road use". Welcome To GOGO.

If you turn off the EGR for all the time purposes, it drops the exhaust gas temps and keeps the motor a little cleaner in the intake. You can try anything you want with the files and let me know how they run and we can always make changes.

Thanks a bunch, I'll give you a call next week. I am excited to try it out.

I was very happy with a relatively mild 7.3 that you can see in my sig (if it works) but it was time for change and going from even a mildly chipped diesel to a stocker leaves me yearnin LOL

Look forward to talking with you
