id tell you to just get a airaid replcement filter, bout 50 bucks. the housing in the link is no different than the factory piece, just metal. which means it will hold in heat, which is bad. not to mention costs 5 times as much...

do the zoodad and a drop in airaid filter. youll have 50-60 bucks invested, and it flows just as good as anything else. i like everything to look stock anyways, personally...

Your not doing a good job at keeping it looking stock

Airaid is the same price sitting on your door step. There is a reason I have one in all 3 of my trucks. Keep in mind that I can get anything I want.

why open up your airbox to all that heat in the engine bay? ok put a lid on it to keep the heat out. now hows it any different than a factory box?

Mikey what hot air gets into the airaid? Are you talking about at idle? Once the truck is going like 2mph the air inlet temp is the same as outside ambient temp.

i find that hard to believe. then why does everyone spend time and money to make lexan covers for the top of the airaid? if that were also the case, the zoodad mod would be a waste, and it has been recorded to lower temps pretty substantially...

Come on down and I show you. All you have to do is look at IAT1 and record it at idle, and then start moving forward. Or Im lying to you mikey in an attempt to sell AirAids. Stupid me I could have reduced my inventory costs by jut getting drop in replacements instead of all those big damn boxes.

I monitor IAT temps on my truck. Yes, it goes up when I'm sitting still...but drops right down to about ambient when I'm rolling.
I have about the most open filter box design you can have too.

I know the reason I personally put a top on my old Airaid was just because I liked the way it looked. I had it cut out of 1/4" thick aluminum and polished it up. It looked sweet IMHO...had nothing to do with heat.

If your truck pukes likes mine, The cover will help keep the coolant out of the filter.

I'm building a top for mine out of aluminum and having flame decals put on it. The rubber lip looks like crap. Must be from all the anti freeze pooring all over it. I'll post my pics when i get it done unless it looks like shit.

I made one last night out of aluminum. I think I should have done it in black to match the air box. How the hell do you take the picture and move into the message?

if you are using FireFox as a browser for some reason it will not allow you to "copy to clipboard" like iE will..I asked Doug about it yesterday he said FF maybe missing a plugin..I have no clue which one it is..but here is the picture Pete was talking about

And yes..I think black would have looked better IMO
