how much power do you think you lose to the wheels with 37's on 22's vs. stock 16's and 295? I'm mounting my 37/22's up tonight, and plan to do a little dyno testing of some other mods real soon. I'm interested in the difference and will probably test it.

what do you think?

We pulled some 22s with ~33s on them off and put some 29" drag radials and the truck went from 391 to 404hp.

I would guess 20 hp for 37's over stock. Maybe 15 over my 295's.

It also deppends on how heavy they are. I was talking to Auggie the other day about him switching from Mikey Thompson ATZs over to some Nittos of the same size but the Nittos were 25lbs per tire lighter. So if he drops the spare tire and changes tires it will shave ~200lbs out of the truck.

Plus the Nittos ride much better and aren't as wide. I would like to see what 33" tires would look like on my truck.

Well, we threw the double D's on that bitch last night, and they're heavy.

Stock 03 16" lariat wheels with BFG 295/75 AT/KO's were aboug 75 lbs each.

22x 12 Rockstars with 37/13.50 Toyo M/T's are about 153 lbs each.

ouch...Maybe 20 lb loss is optimistic.

Okay....This is basic algebra. You take the starting horsepower with say 31" tall tires, look at the loss going to 35" and this will solve what you will lose with 37.

but actually it has to do with rotating mass and how much they weigh in relation to the circumfrience of the tire.

Sorry for the spelling..Had a few drinks already before Im going out.

If some one get me this I can solve I think:D

i had no idea you actually Lost hp with bigger tires...i thought it just made you slower before of the extra power it takes to get em rollin...interesting fact!

but do you still lose HP if you regear for the bigger tires?

It takes longer to accelerate but lets say on a rolling race they help alot and it gives more mph in top end...
