In a 1/8 mile run do I stand a chance against a 2007 Toyota Tundra with the 5.7 liter? I have dougs race tune w/ and without the torque converter lockout and an MBRP 4" exhaust. Should I run in 2wd or 4wd? I dont have any guages added just the stock turbo and temp guages.

I would think so. I would do a 4x4 launch and get the torque to the pavement. Bring a bag of rice and before you race hand it to him, this will really get him fired up and maybe red light.

A boosted 4x4 launch will make him trade that tundra in. A few months back I remember some 4x4 guys taking vipers out of the hole. So I fear no gas engine truck.

beautiful. I was worried, but I cant wait now. Maybe I will throw a cash wager down then and pay for that tuner.

Doug, when you say boosted launch should I powerbrake and run the boost up to 20 or so then let off the brake and dump it?

so, what was the outcome?
and the bag of rice idea- that's genius, I think it should be more like a wedding where you just shower them with rice as they pull up to the tree :hehe:

I've seen the Tundras run in the 14.3 range. If Doug isn't scared then he should be!

I saw a bone stock one run 17s or something and it had the 5.7L in it... I've heard of mid 14s and sport truck mag said they blew out a 13.9 at the track, but I don't really believe that.

ya, it was pretty decent...wish i could remember the time it ran. i think most of the gasser trucks than run there that arent race trucks are somewhere in the 10s in the 1/8th...or low 11s

it's starting to become quite the hp war on the track, stock vs. modified even. But I always try to remember I weigh 1000-2000lbs. more than those other vehicles too. but it makes it more fun when you DO come out on top!

Yep. I drive one and it hauls. I think close to 13-flat is normal for stock. I also have a 300 SRT8, and they run high 12's stock.

I smoked a 300 SRT8 a couple of months ago in the 1/8th. I ran a 9.1. Atleast half a truck.

What times would you expect from a 300c srt-8 with long tubes w/ full exhaust, tune and CAI? I lost to one by a nose from a dig we took it way passed a 1/4 mile too!

Unlike our trucks, gassers don't get the gain from tunes and a pipe that we do. The 6.0 can add well over 120RWHP with a tune and a pipe, in some cases as much as 160RWHP added. On the SRT8's, the tuners add maybe 25 or so HP. The 300C's come with short pipe headers stock, so the long pipe won't do much. The CAI's also don't add a heck of a lot. All in all, the times I see the tuned, piped and CAI'd SRT8's run are around 0.2-0.3s quicker than stock (in the quarter). Most drivers run high 12's in that set up, a few approaching mid 12's. Most stock SRT8's run low 13's. So, a stock SRT8 should beat a tuned and piped 6.0 every single time, not even close. Might be close in the 1/8, but I doubt it. I've driven both and the SRT8's just pull harder and they are a lot lighter.....sure, there are faster 6.0's out there, but if you want to pull out all the stops, there are faster SRT8's also, and the fastest SRT8's are in the 9's, which I don't think any 6.0's can claim....yet (Tim...go Tim!)...

Interesting to see these times. What would a Hemi run? I could have run a Hemi with SRT badges on it. It had after market wheels on it so I'm not sure what it was.
I have seen a Magnum run high 11's at the track with NOS and slicks. The dude must weight 300lbs that drives it.

The guy I ran is a buddy from the local hangouts and it is a legit srt-8(no hemi w/ badges). We ran a couple of times and the exact same outcome each time until I ran out of giggle gas. My best runs to date are 8.30 @ 88mph in the 1/8th with a 2.1 60ft. I was pretty impressed by how hard they run.

In Bowling Green I raced Dieter from a rol in his Jeep SRT-8, and he pulled away from me with no problems at all. From a dead stop, I think it would have been worse for me. Those things are stupid quick.

My buddy Mike has a light blue toyota tunda with an exhasut an intake. He ran a 14.9 at the 1/4 mile.
He does have come 22's on the truck; that slows it down a little bit. Also that was a 4x4 launch because he wasn't gettign any traction.

I raced a 300 srt8 and he ran a low 14 at 99 or something in the 1/4. I was ahead for about 3/4 then it took off from me. He said hes made 5-6 runs and couldnt get the 100 mph mark...
