I would say it better .You can clean it also. I believe the stock filter is $80.00 to buy a new one. It makes it sound better also. Doug has about 30 Air Aid in his warehouse.

It makes the intake "whistle" sound louder.

Once the turbo spools power was about the same across the dyno graph. However the turbo would spool a hell of a lot quicker with the airaid vs the stock filter. There was like a 153 ftlb difference at 2000rpm. Don't read that as an increase in torque, but as more torque available down low.

just the part from the front of the filter to the header (with the black tube coming off it)?
if so then ya its fine.... still, may as well get an aftermarket one. by the time you clean it once its almost paid for itself (and its not stock)

so would i get about the same or close by just removing the front of the intake ? seems like it would be like the same thing !

well its basically openning the filter then feeding it straight back to the turbo :D then its just about the same thing as after market products!

Adam when you get down here I have a stock filter and an airaid. We will swap them in and out of your truck on the dyno and we can see if its cheaper to keep buying stock filters or to keep cleaning the airaid. Then we can roll down the highway and take some live fuel economy tests with each filter.

um, huh? i hate to tell ya, but i have NO clue what you said ^^ there.
just get the aftermarket intake; i dont understand why youre asking this question that you seem to think you know the answer to .... yet when everyone tells you something contradictory to your preconceived idea you balk at the notion that the people whos input youve asked for might be correct or know what theryre talking about?
yes taking the front off will open it up a bit but youre still pulling air from the same surface area so it has almost the same restriction, however once you get to speed theres almost 0 diff with the front on or off.
If you want to listen to ‘jim and eric’ then do it – keep the stock intake.
Tell your dad to run pane… a LOT of it and a huge shot. With no studs. And a stock file. Lets see what fucks it up worse, a stock engine on pane and NOS or an aftermarket intake. Any bets?

Great way to get a point across Brad.
Does your dad just allow you to do whatever mods you want on "HIS" truck?
