I will be getting a SCT shortly and I was wondering what tunes I should get?
Tow tune-I pull a toy hauler with a gvwr of 16 k. I do pull throught the Rocky mountains often so a agrisive tow tune would be good.
Street tune-I do a lot of highway driving and would like some better MPG
and I am not sure what I should do for the last tune.
The truck is a 2003 with 145,000 km on it. The winters up here get really cold -40 so I need somthing reliable.
Doug shoot me a price for a SCT with some good tunes for my requirements!

the animal tune which would be your tow tune with aggresive tow haul and a good street tune that you could still tow with then a fast ass race tune for the track

What oil is in the truck and do you plug it in?

In summer I use Swepco 15w/40 and in winter I use 10w/30 and yes I plug it in any temp below 0*C .

You can run a 5w-40 all year round. Since it gets that cold up there its only going to agitate the SCT. That being said. If you have some of the latest flashes to address cold start spool valve issues it would go a long way to help out. On the highway the higher HP files yeild better mpg results. Is there any way to ship the SCT to somewhere other than canada? Fedex continues to screw that up.

Well after they do my heads I will be up to date on the flashes to help with the cold start spool valve issue. I would probably run the Valvolein premum blue 5w/40 but I can't find it anywhere up here. I don't know where I could ship it to in the states, normaly Fed Ex is good when we ship stuff through work. What about a trailer tow tune? How much for the SCT with tunes? What will agitate the SCT, the oil or the cold?

The only thing with FedEx is the brokerage duty crap. They say they contact the reciever to collect the duty but they never seem to. So about 3 months later I get a bill in the mail saying they never got the money from them.

So how many of you guys are using an Oilguard system on your truck? How often are you changing your filter? Oil? Are you doing LOA on your oil?

heinzboy

I change the oil when i really feel like it. Some do it at 5000 miles and some do it at 7500 miles +. Really depends on how hard you work the truck.

So how many of you guys are using an Oilguard system on your truck? How often are you changing your filter? Oil? Are you doing LOA on your oil?

I have an Oilguard and I made about 9,000 miles and the oil oxidized to shit.
My problem was the Amsoil garbage I was running.
I work my truck pretty hard though, I pull no less than a 10,000 work trailer every day and usually have no less than 2 or 3 thousand pounds of garbage in the back on a daily basis to boot, I also pull a 13,000 pound camper on the weekends, so I work my oil.

I know the Schaeffer's oil I have in there now will be better

I do my oil analysis at 5k, then 8k then 10k and every 2k until the oil is junk.

I never change the filters until the oil gets changed.
When I find the oil that holds up best for me, I will reduce the analysis frequency to 1 at the end of the OCI just to check up on it.

Call Oilguard and they will tell you, changing the filters between OCIs defeats the purpose of saving money by extending your OCI
