Launch Of Motorcraft Cj-4 Diesel Motor Oil
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject: Transition to New CJ-4 Category for Motorcraft Diesel Motor Oil--Beginning 12/01/2006-- REQUIRED for the New 6.4L Diesel Engine
BACKGROUND
The 2008 Ford Super Duty, featuring an all new 6.4L diesel engine, is scheduled to launch January 2007.
This vehicle is equipped with advanced emission control technologies, including diesel particulate filters (DPF), to meet the new emission standards for heavy-duty diesel engines.
To insure proper operation of the emission control equipment, the use of ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel and diesel motor oil meeting the new CJ-4 category is required.
CJ-4 motor oil is formulated for the unique needs of this new engine, including compatibility with the emission control system. The use of oil other than CJ-4 in the 6.4L engine may cause damage to the emissions control equipment.
CJ-4 motor oil is backward compatible and will protect older engines requiring previous category motor oils.
LAUNCH OF MOTORCRAFT CJ-4 DIESEL MOTOR OIL
Effective December 1, Motorcraft will launch CJ-4 diesel motor oil in both bulk and packaged goods, in SAE 10W-30 and SAE 15W-40 viscosity grades.
Motorcraft will discontinue selling CI-4 Plus (the previous category) diesel motor oil for these viscosity grades.
Packaged diesel motor oil meeting this new category will display CJ-4 on the front and back labels and on the carton.
Part numbers for the new CJ-4 motor oil will not change.
BULK TANK PREPARATION AND PACKAGED GOODS INVENTORIES
To prepare for this transition, bulk product inventory of the present diesel motor oils should be reduced to 25% before CJ-4 bulk oil is introduced into these tanks.
Packaged product inventories should also be reduced by December 1 in preparation for the new CJ-4 oils.
Package product stock should be rotated after December 1 to insure that CI-4 Plus motor oil will get used first prior to January 2007.
Dealers need to ensure that any CI-4 Plus motor oil they still have after January 1, 2007 is not used in the 6.4L engine.
PRICING
The pricing impact of the transition to CJ-4 oil is still being finalized and will be communicated in a future dealer letter.
Nice info Doug......Is other oil manufactures making this stuff yet????
Thanks Ellwood
