question, the LS in my rear is burned out just like everyone else ( seems like everyone has that problem anyway ) so Ive been hearing about the True Track LS. I dont want a real locker, I need it to be good for snow and rain and normal driving. what is your opinion on the True Track and do you sell them?
Ps. wheres my tunes. LOL

Just restack the factory set up. I don't have any differentials for sale. I can tell you this, whatever you put in there, just make sure the place has a MASTER SERVICE SHIM KIT. The install kits come with a few spacer shims. Sometimes you need different ones. If the shop thats putting them in doesn't have the kit run away. I know we are only talking about a few .001s but the difference in 6 month failure and a 10year failure only takes a few minutes to get right.

hey hey your alive , thought maybe you fell and bumped your head and couldnt get your computer. lol thanks for that advice, but if i just restack the shims wont it just burn out again?

Replace the burnt up stuff. And put them together in a different order. Then shim her a little tighter. It may burn out again but I mean what wont? You can leave out the friction modifier, but it will shudder when the fluid is cold.

I bought a rebuild kit last year. IIRC it was about $80 from powerstrokeshop.com

I never installed it. I still have the kit sitting in a box in my garage. My solution was a Detroit Trutrac

anyone have a technical opinion ( other than mine " guess cause they suck from the factory ") why these "super Duty " trucks loose the LS so often???

from my understanding, they not "that bad" if your driving normal, etc.....but after you get an SCT is when they taka dump! LOL...i think if you get water inside the differential like from driving through a deep water puddle or somethin that wears em out, also doing a burnout, sometimes the one wheel will spin faster than the other, that also will burn them up fast! i mean, they arent a locker, we are hard on them, and putting down lots of power so......

58000 miles so far and i don't have an issue yet. Trust me, I abuse the hell out of my truck.

My wifes truck has almost 30000 miles on hers and it been tuned since it had 2000 miles on it and it ain't got an issue yet either. Weird. I dog the piss out of her truck also....lol
I had mine replaced at 45,000. Got 57,000 on it now, and it is better than stock. When they rebuilt it they put a few extra shims in it. It was completely locked for about 1,000 miles but loosened up and now it works great:rockwoot:

Don't you guys with no issues have a dually? The D80 rear seems much better than the 10.5

The dually rear is alot more sturdy. I say this however mine blew out a spider gear shim and took out a few teeth on the ABS wheel in the diff. It still runs strong. Lately it has been shuddering slightly when i turn while backing up. Its probably the spider gears flopping around.

how much of a difference in strenghth is there from a 3/4 to a 1 ton rear? Are the 373 gears just in the 3/4 ton rear, and the 410 gears just in the 1 ton ? 123,000 and will still roast all 4.

i think the one ton single rear wheel is the same as the 3/4 ton. its when you get to the 1ton dully that they are different.
