Guys I just about have all the money saved up for the AFE Stage 2 XP Cold Air Intake System w/Pro-GUARD 7 Media // Or is that over kill ?
which one of the afe systems would you think is good, for the 6.0 06 yrs....

Or the MBRP 4" from turbo back ..

What would you do first .... I want the 4" but think that I can get away without it for awhile by chopping off the muffler on my stock OEM pipe for now . It should still sound good and I'll get some performance out of doing both , the pipe would only run me about 20$ is that installed if that ..

You won't notice any gains in 1/4 with an IC I'll tell you by experience but you will see tempature drops..Your best bet right now is AFE and exhaust and if you want to knock of 9 tenths of your 1/4 mile ET's with a push of a button go with a NOS drykit..That's the best bang for your buck..

The stage 2 XP is some over kill. The AFE no box or the AirAid is just as good. The stock turbo is not going to out flow the filter.

The gains are keeping your air cooler for longer periods of time thus forth it will give you some HP gains (cooler air= more hp). An IC is just going to compliment the rest of the mods.

just get an airaid filter only for 40 bucks and throw it in your stock airbox, pull the front shroud off, and do your zoodad mod. with the stock intake being as efficient as it is, i dont see how a $400 intake can flow much more than this. you can also see the IC i got from doug. i know im setting myself up, let the hammer jokes commense...

mikeym exactly what I was thinking the stock oem box is pretty damn good from what I can see.

I did the zoodad mod awhile back .. Could you tell anything different when you used just the drop in filter ?

Doug just for shits and giggles what the TT&L on an IC from you ??

you absolutely will not feel any kind of difference with an intake, its for peace of mind. the only reason i replaced the filter with an airaid is because in the long run its actually cheaper. you can clean it rather than replace it every 10k miles...

put your 400 towards an sct and run a tow/street file until you can get another 400 for exhaust. dont waste your money on an intake...

I say exhaust. I have an AFE, and I like it, but its not a necessity

get an exhaust from where colin did, cause he got his cheap, and then get the SCT FROM the FROG

Or just do what I did, I unbolted the cat gutted it out and put it back on the truck..When I go to the track I unbolt the cat and take it off and tie the back muffler to the chassis...That way you don't have to hear that noisy exhaust when you're on the road the whole day...

You had it gutted out why would you need to remove it , theres no restrictions in it ?

Just as soon as my 3/36 is gone .. How much more of a difference would 1/2 make over the 4" turbo back ? I know the looks are some what better but can 1/2 make that much ?

My trip was canceled to the coast due to fuckin sore throat ,dripping ass nose, eye's popping out of my head and some great Flem to spit out .. Just love getting sick ...:upyours:

hmm so MBRP would be good to get done . For now I think I'll have the muffler cut off then keep saving for my lift & tires .. Looks first then nutts...

mikeym
10-21-2007, 10:25 PM
looks first is nice, but the speed you get with factory tires is crazy. you lose a lot of it after the lift. i barely walk away from a stock 6.0 from a 75mph roll with over 400whp and 38s w/ stock gearing.

get something like a 409 SS single exit silverline or MBRP or something along those lines, get the cat delete pipe, and you can get muffler delete if you want, that way you can swap both back in place if need be, it sounds nice, and fits well and lowers EGTs.

heinzboy
10-22-2007, 04:00 PM
Whatever you get. Get atleast 409. The factory system is made of 409.

:gr_cheers:OK that will work guys I'll start in that direction .. As for speed and racing someone heck It's a big ass truck , I'm to slow go around lol .....

I know thats why I have stayed away from that urge lol get the crack away from you twisted person lol...
I want a tuner but I am just so afraid of my heads blowing or puking .. I don't have the money for studs or gauges right now or to replace something that goes wrong from it. I had the superchips on my old 04 F250 5.4 with 93 octane setting on felt good, pipes AFE and all the other goodies . But I'm worried I my fuck up my diesel.

The Efficiency of the stock air filter has never been in question. It will hold 1600 grams of drit. 3.547lbs I think. Before it needs to be replaced. The drop in replacement works. I like the airaid box for the price cause its half the cost of the AFE stage 2 with lid. I have always said this. As far as .5" on the exhaust. I believe Carssuck had a gutted catalyst and an aftermarket muffler before I sent him a 409 off-road mbrp. He dropped another 75 to 100 degrees out of the exhaust. I will only ever put on a 409 instead of an aluminized kit. I NEVER weld them either. Cause if you ever have to take it back out to work on the truck, the stainless comes apart easy and doesn't give you any issues. Gutting the catalyst is nuts. Destroying a cat instead of getting at least a delete pipe doesn't make sense.
