hey Doug i have some time on this so i didn't want to bug you on the phone. 2004 6.0 auto
I am up on 50k and i do plow snow so i want to get her ready for winter.
1-tranny fluid brand recommended?.. and if pan drop is needed over trans-tech should i mess around with adding a shift kit of some kind to the valve body?..
2-are international filters any good? (dealer near me) air, oil, fuel? or is fram airhog the way to go for air? using valvoline blue syn oil for sure.
3-what if anything do i need to add to fuel during winter in chicago...COLD
4-can i remote start truck while plugged in? and can i set timer to turn on plug at like 2 hours before i awake to save $ on power? or does it defeat idea.
5-should i plow snow with tune? or go to stock? i am easy on pedal for sure
6-is there a way to firm up my posi? it goes 1 wheel around corners
is there any ideas you have for me to better ready my new truck? and do you sell a gauge kit?
What i was planning on doing to get ready was;
oil and filter
fuel filters, and water drain valve upgrade
possibly diffs front and back flush when i install covers.
trans and t-case flush
air filter of some kind
thanks man...appreciated. :gr_cheers:

For shizzle...
I used to plow with my bro in Canada. We always had problems with over heating. This was in a gasser but if I was you I would run it stock.

I live in Wisconsin and might be able to answer a few questions for you.
I have never put anything in my fuel to keep it from gelling and never had a single problem.
There is no problem starting your truck with it plugged in but, don't let it idle too long because it's hard on the new diesels. The best way to warm the truck up is to plug it in 3 hours prior to starting then idle a couple of minutes and drive easy till everything is warm. Think about it like this, nice warm motor ready to run hard with the tranny and rear end is still cold.
The tune you plow with is up to you and how aggressive your right foot gets and how heavy or deep the snow is. I would run stock if you don't have a pyro to watch while plowing.
Fram filters are the worst you can buy! There is lots of proof and documentation on bobistheoilguy.com
I would have the tranny and transfer case fluid changed before every plowing season regardless of miles. Fluid and filters are cheap compared to the time your truck is down not pushing snow because the trannys toast.
I believe Ford makes the only trans fluid rated for the Torqshift.

Just drain the pan and fire up the motor. It will drain the converter to the pain. Then drain pan again. Mercon SP is the only stuff available at this time that I know of. Its full synthetic so.... whats wrong with it? Shift kit not needed. Its electronic. If you want to firm something up, change the tune.
International filters will be cheaper than at Ford. Its the same filter. Autozone carries the 2016 oil filter for cheaper than the dealer also. Fram = Shit.
Add some of the winter blend powerservice to the fuel to help it along. I think its the grey bottle.
You can remote start the truck with the truck plugged in. The heater heats the coolant. The idling will warm the oil.
You can plow with the tow file or even the street file.
If you take out the limited slip and restack them and reshim them it will fix the problem. Also put the 75w-140 back in without the friction modifier for some extra bite. The ford diff fluid is also full synthetic.
Autometer is currently pissing me off. They sent me a C&D letter to stop showing their products on my website. So.... I can get them I just dont like their business practice.

the winter stuff is in a white bottle :hate: (fo' shizzle it be white like da sno)
use the stuff in a red bottle if youre already having gelling issues
