i know that garrett p/n 1837984C93 is an 03 turbo, but is p/n 1837984C94 an 03 turbo also? could you swap the 03 turbine onto the 05 compressor to avoid needing an 03 pedistal, or is it the turbine that requires the pedistal? just trying to get some whistle here...

The exhaust housing is what locates the turbo on the pedastal. There are spacers on the old bolts that are made into the new pedastal. But the newer pedastal also has a bolt that is in a different place than on the old one. And supposedly the older exhaust wheel was a little larger which ment it was a little laggier. By about 1mm. You could try to switch exhaust housings from an 03 with an 05. But the turbo itself is less robust. The 03 turbo has narrower shaft bushings and a crappy thrust bearing. And seeing how you like to tear shit up. You will probably kill it.
