Just out of curiosity, why is Valvoline premium blue the best?? Haven't read much about it. I have used Rotella forever with no problems. Just wondering.

I use Royal Purple. It is expensive but works well. A few more HP and longer intervals....

I run the premium blue because I liked it. And then of all the phone calls I would get from people with cold start injector problems all of them were running Rotella. So it sorta confirmed it for me.

Ok...I see where you are coming from now. The only reason I wondered is that I actually use 15w40 in the warm months and 10w30 whaen its colder. I did notice a difference in the way my truck started and ran when I switched from 15-40 to 10-30 in the winter. I may look into some of the others that y'all are talking about. Gotta make this best live for a while...lol

I've been running Amsoil 5W-40 for a while now Joe, she seems to like it.

I haven't tried it in a 7.3 yet but I know I saw a huge difference in cold performance on my 6.0 going from Rotella 15W40 to Premium Blue Extreme 5W40. I don't know how anybody can sleep at night when running 15W40 in a Powerstroke in could temperatures!

I know mine was a bitch to start when it was cold before I switched to the 10w30. Bitch would cough and miss and smoke like hell for about 5sec then is would kinda smooth out and was fine after about 45sec. SInce goin to the 10w30 she starts right up and idles fine no matter how cold it gets. I am gonna try some of the Valvoline blue in a couple weeks whe I change my oil. I can get it for $10.40/gal at work. I may have to try the extreme blue when I hit the lotto....lol
