well, it's been going on all winter...water on the hood and it steams off liek crazy...
why...
also...why does it sound like somebody kicked a dog when i let off my gas pedal???...is turbo susposto howl like that...
and what does messing with the TC lock-up do to street survivability? i have no idea if i am locked or not...

I could have sworn you said you only wanted to run the street file. I give you the race and look what happens.
If you have coolant on the hood: Potentially just the egr cooler ruptured. If you continue to let it get hot, potential head gasket failure. If the oil cooler has died as a result of said egr cooler failure, the motor will get really hot really quick.
If you are getting some turbo back fire when letting off at certain spots we can redo the converter strategy to not be as aggressive. Its all how you work the throttle and if you let out under boost or if the truck upshifts under boost, it has to go somewhere since the motor revs drop and the manifold pressure makes a u-turn for the air filter.
If the truck is turning 1200-1300 rpm at 45-50mph then the converter is locked and you are in overdrive. If you maintain constant pressure on the throttle and tap the brakes to just get the lights to come on and the motor revs up, then the converter just unlocked.

ok...nothing ruptured....it pukes a tiny little bit out the degass but has done that from day one...
the rain steams off my hood....hood won't stay wet...normal??
temp gauge says normal....and honestly..i took the race off for this fact...i am scared of it...lol..
now....i understand how convertors work,.....what i don't get it the locked convertor accel or decell on the tune....
and the turbo sound...i know the turbo fart you get normally...is it just enhanced from the tune?? louder??easier to fart?..looser...lol
man..i need gauges badly....damn...

The later model trucks don't have any insulation under the hood so yes they all evaporate the rain water off the hood. In certain temperatures you will see steam. It's normal even for a stock truck.

If you've never seen steam on an 06 hood then you aren't paying attention! It doesn't take much of a temperature differential to make it happen on a cool morning with a heavy dew.

lol ur funny, extreme race as in innovative diesels extreme race tune. and hood never smokes sun snow or rain!
ps i find it weird you doubt me after reading your last thread about abnormally high coolant temps.

well, i thought it had something to do with temps as well,so i tried stock and it still did it... then i heard about and saw it on stock trucks...so i dunno....mabey they were all running hot...
...it was determined that my gauge reads high...pretty quickly.
and i knew what you meant..just bustin ya...mabey it's a climate thing?...mine did it the most in overcast with slight rain around 30ish degrees..mabey light snow...while working or idleing ...so...who knows...

05 and up don't have insulation as I recall. I've actually thought about getting an 03 hood blanket for my truck to help with the noise. Better yet I would just like to get a nice cowl induction hood to help scavenge some heat.

That's exactly what I want provided it has functional vents. I've always like the modest rise. Short guys would need to sit on a phone book to see over that big one!

Well, Nate you can take a 30 minute ride to Vineland and pick one up. I had a buddy that worked there. And he got me a hood for the OBS Lightning. It looked good too.

I have a cervini's Cobra R hood for a 94-98 mustang sitting in my warehouse from my old car. I'm definitely thinking of putting this dual rise on my truck. I like how wide it is, better than the narrow one everyone else has. I think it'll look awesome on the truck!

Put that Cobra hood up on ebay and fund the truck hood!

cobra hood and my stock 6.0 intercooler could probably get me the hood, that'd be sweet!
and to let ya know matt, I'd think the back of the hood is going to just have a taper to it. Maybe Cervini's changed up their designing, but I know my Cobra R hood just tapered, didn't have any venting. I'm hoping this one does. You can always do a slick drill pattern or something before paint too.

Drill pattern hell! I could get my body man to cut some holes and fab up a stainless screen for them. Sort of like a certain homo did for your zoodad mod.

well, at least this thread got some good discussion...
i would like a cowl hood as well, BUT FIRST..i want a stocker to cut a hole in and try the through the hood stack..i want a 4-6" stack slash cut poking out the top of the hood like 4"
that would be killer...lol...i would do that before i go cowl...

we have been putting the steel cowl hoods on these trucks for awhile . getting more and more popular. i forget what company we use but man the steel is the way to go . no wavy fiberglass to make straight or pin holes to fill. I was going to put one on my truck but there are so many around here now with my paint work on them LOL that i think ill leave my stock hood on and be different .
