Nothing special happened but I got a chance to try my updated race tune that accounts for the headstuds tonight. I ran a best of 14.24 @ 94.0 mph last fall at a weight of 8100 lbs and the new tune ran a best of 14.36 @ 92.83 at 7800 lbs tonight.:banging: Went back to the old race tune and ran a 14.24 @ 93.38 mph.

Two factors were different. I set the air pressure at 55 lbs tonight vs. 70 last time. I also ran without the ARE hard tonneau cover this time. My mph was off even though I was 300 lbs lighter this time so I'm wondering if the extra weight of the tonneau is offset by the aerodynamic advantage it may provide. Lower tire pressure also provides a higher rolling resistance which could affect the mph as well. The best 60' was 1.85 which is in line with my best times to date but the 1/8 was a little slower this time.

I'm not a hardcore racer by any means. Some of the guys asked me to post up the results so that's what I'm doing.

Sweet 60' times. What was your 1/8mile time? Whos tunes?

I think the best 1/8 was about 9.01 but I have been at 8.95 before and ran the same 1/4 time. I wasn't comfortable with my launches tonight like I usually am but the 60's were all within .05 seconds on all 4 runs. I know with the track temp where it was tonight I could run more air pressure in the tires and still launch hard.

The tunes are by Eric at Innovative Diesel. I have the luxury of him living about 5 miles from the local track. I need to try some Frog tunes! I try to look at the bright side of things and realize that it could be worse........I could be running slower with DJ's tunes!

I'm happy with were I am for a truck that tows a fifth wheel camper and a 17,000 lb gooseneck trailer all summer. If I go to bigger sticks and snail I will surely break the tranny and God only knows what else the way I work the truck. I could always go N2O but that's never been my style and it's expensive to use.

I see you have already performed the Bed Delete mod in order to lower your weight and improve your times! Nice job bro!

Jeez 14.36 I think I might be able to run that without a tuner, jk :D. Sounds like eric needs to do some more tweeking.

Didn't you run like 13.8s with just a regular street tune? These heavy crewcab trucks are like the kid with the oreo cookies at the track meet! One thing is for sure it's a comfortable truck when you have to travel 6-800 miles. Speed racer she isn't but I would take it over a Cadillac any day of the week.

My son is real eager to hit up the dyno! I told maybe at the SSS this year but you never know.

I would probably go for it Nate! Don't know if Dave would be interested in a few "fuel only" runs as well. I'm sure we can find a few guys to join in the fun.

There will be a mobile dyno at the MDTDC meet in July at Cecil again this year, hopefully it'll work.

Other than that, the closest dyno to me is less than 5 miles, but last time I heard from them was that they couldn't read the torque, which didnt make any sense to me? It probably works now, but the place is more geared towards VEEEEEE DUBs.

There is quite a few around Atco. But a halfway point would probably be good for people who have to travel long distances.

It helps to have a diesel orientated dyno facility too.

I would be up for a dyno day. See what the work truck will throw down.

We may actually be able to come close to keeping up the the little white truck HP wise! It's light weight won't be an advantage on the rollers.

I can't make it next Tuesday. After this weekend camping at the Nascar race I will be burnt out and broke! I will catch up with you guys at some point this summer. Maybe you should come to the Buck next Sat with Nate if he comes.

i'd love to make that event matt, but pretty much EVERY saturday this month I'm busy. kinda sucks... but the warm weather's got me planning.
there's a slight (and i mean like 2%) possiblity the car show I'm heading to on the 9-11th (of may) may have a dyno there. They haven't had it in 3 years due to noise, but they like bike weekend go CRAZY! can you say, pay offs? I dynoed my stang there, it's a rolling dynojet, not a weight load, but it's pretty darn close, and WAY better than the SSS dyno, by a mile! this one was very accurate and proven by guys who knew the cars they put on the rollers.

i'd love to get a day together for all of us... hope it works out soon! about a week away from big black being back in commission!!

Silly boy car shows are for...well cars! You need to bring your badass truck to play with the big boys.
