I know some may know about this, but I just read up on it. Check out the link.. looks like ford is moving on from International and beginning work on a FORD BUILT 6.7L diesel named Scorpion. Said to replace the current 6.4 Navistar motor by 2011.

I get so tired of hearing all the Ford diesel rumours. It would be cool to see a larger displacement inline 6. The article doesn't mention what configuration the engine is supposed to be. The 6.4 with it's common rail injection seems to finally be the ticket for the V8 configuration but we still haven't seen how well it's going to hold up to the higher power levels since they just got there in the last few months. I would say preliminary evidence shows that they should be fairly reliable at well over 500 hp and possibly as much as 600 without really throwing a lot of money at them.
I still wish that Ford/Navistar would have developed a common rail version of the DT466 for the superduty. Even with the HEUI system that engine can be made badass and extremely reliable. Maybe tone it down to around a 7.0 displacement instead of 7.6, add common rail injection and go gonzo on the torque. The 7.6 already makes over 800 lb/ft.

Ford is the reason the 6.0 is such a piece of shit to begin with. Do you really think they can do it on there own? Ford needs to team up with Yanmar

Yanmar FTW! What's the biggest engine Yanmar has built to date? Much like Isuzu they have been building quality diesel engines that are virtually bulletproof for over 20 years. We all know who designed and builds the Duramax. I think you could be onto something there Don.
Ford is responsible for most of the 6.0 issues. You don't hear about problems with the VT365 in International trucks. I'm a little leary of them trying to build their own diesel engine as well. When was the last time that Ford engineered and built a successful diesel engine? Yeah that's what I thought.....never!

this is probably the very beginnings and hopefully ford sees all that has gone on and only wants to move in a positive light. they HAVE to know the things we've been through and all the problems that were faced and I'm sure they can't just ignore it. That'd be wrong- but worse has been done in the past.
could you imagine a 7.0L diesel. That'd be amazing!

They need to bring back the 7.3L. Best diesel engine ever lol.
Nah, I just hope that the next generation engine is a CR design and is reliable. Ford screwed over a lot of people with the BS they pulled on the 6.0s. They owe it to us damn it lol.
