real quick strategy question

If "Charlie's" 2003 has the same strategy as my 2003 and his tunes aren't serial number locked or whatever, can I simply use any of his tunes on my truck by using his xcal or having him email me the files??

you have nothing to loose..get the file load it up..load it into the truck..either it cranks or it doesn't..if it don't crank..return to stock.

Indeed it is. Details of this "sharing" weren't posted on the forum though and were instead dealt with directly through personal emails. The specific tuner may have serial number locked the tunes, not sure yet. guess we'll find out. If they didn't, I'm really looking forward to trying the tune(s) and will report back in this thread what I like and/or dislike.

This would be the part that people will have a problem with. I doubt that any of the vendors wouldn't have a problem with you "trying" their tunes but if you like it and don't buy from them then that's considered stealing.

Most of these tuners aren't getting rich off of tuning. If you consider what a pain in the ass some customers are with request after request to tweak this and change that and the amount of money they get only one time, These guys earn every penny they get from us. I for one have no problem paying for what I get so that the tuner will still be there in the future to support me and my needs. If everybody just "tried" the tunes and didn't pay for them how would these guys ever be able to dedicate any time to what would then simply be a hobby for them.

Bottom line.........if you must be a cheapskate then don't broadcast it to the world!

If the tranny tuning is comparable or better to Innovative's then I would consider buying more tunes. If not, I would have no use for the file as I get plenty of power from xtreme street. The "If I try I'm not gonna buy" had a LOL in front of it and ended with a period not a exclamation mark.

give it time, people will have a database of unlocked tunes from different vendors with different strategies all compiled on one site FREE TO DOWNLOAD...

IF the dealer didn't lock his tune i say tough titties...and if someone SHARES a tune and reports how much he LIKED IT more than the tune he BOUGHT..well....thats good for the dealers PR...so it's good for the dealer...i mean Doug took care of me on tuning...and guess what...I BUY ALMOST ALL MY PARTS FROM HIM NOW...so...his tunes fee isn't shit, but a good tune is a GREAT promotional tool...

if you prefer his tuning, you should consider buying into it for unlimited adjustments... but it's your call AND DON'T feel like your doing anything wrong...if you don't..but if you like it and keep it...well you know..

I don't see any censorship going on, however if there needs to be some we will be handle it accordingly. Were not going to tell you how to get into your truck because your dumbass locked the keys in it. There does need to be some type of protection amongst us all though.

that is a great idea! That would make tuners so busy in the short run but I think it would bring in a lot more money in the long run. I would be all over that since I would only run dj, doug, innovative and elite.
