I have an 04 f350 crew srw towing a 28' tag @ 10000# and with my current tow tune i am getting maybe 10 if i go 65 MPH. Would i get any better milliage with one of Doug's? What is anyone else getting with his tow tune? And how long to get them? Thanks

10 is a good number, I average between 8 and 10 pulling a similar weight.

That sounds reasonable. With an IDP tow tune I can't do much better than that. Maybe 11 mpg at 65-70 mph and that's an 8,000 lb fifth wheel camper. Towing the same load with a my aggressive street tune I can do about 12 mpg at 70 mph.
Towing 10K you would be hard pressed to do much better than what you have now. I hear that Doug's tow tunes are good on fuel but once you start to approach 20K GCVW 10 mpg is a great number. An empty dump truck weighing around 20K will be lucky to see 8 mpg and loaded only about 6 mpg.

I know in the dually. The empty 40 foot gooseneck (8000 lbs) drops down to about 12.6mpg. And then about 10.6 when there is about another 10K lbs on it with the forklift, rigging box, pallet jacks. But we are only running 65 mph.

Are you guys using the tow/haul button "on" even with the tow tune?

that sounds like a diffinate maybe LOL What does it actually do with a tune loaded? Doesnt a tow tune already change the shift RPM's?

the tow haul changes the shift points also..it is also good for the trans brake.

And by trans brake, he means the coast clutch is turned on. It holds gears to a higher mph to get the weight moving. Coast clutch makes the wheels drive the engine to help slow the vehicle down.

Owned! Doug just basically called Adam a dumbass.
The tow/haul mode does the same thing with a tune as it does stock. Some tuners also use it to turn the "turbo braking" on and off in their tow tunes. The Spartan tow tune that I tried had the turbo brake on all the time. I prefer for it to just be activated with the tow/haul button.

The tow/haul button doesn't have control over the desired drive pressure table.

Turbo braking on the IDP tow tune does not activate unless the tow/haul is engaged. I have no idea what controls what but I know how the tune acts.

I only use the t/h button to slow the truck
