what your gonna need to do now dave is practice on launching, you need to cut that 60' time down a bit...but dont listen to me, my 60' still blows :hehe:

Do work Green turd!!!!

1.986 was the best I could pull off, the rest were all 2.0xx like above. I tried my best to impress you Evan!

Might need more practice with the converter, I played with RPMs and tire pressures all night. My Superduty equipped school bus engine might just need more power, or a driver delete!

All 4x4.

It seems my PSD isn't going any faster than 89MPH in 4x4 with low 2 second 60 foots, that's probably all she's got on the race tune.

14.799 might be not out of the question.

I tried again this passed Friday night. 14.882@89.33 using DD tire pressures. Lowered to 53PSI on all 4 for the second run, 14.823@89.67. Both times leaving 1,600RPM.

Would've liked to try a third pass as the ambient temp was cooling off pretty good, but it got crowded.

The surrounding area at Cecil is very hillbilly Rob! The track itself is not so ghetto. Sooner or later I will actually be back to work and be able to afford a trip out there to "northern West Virginia". We mainstream Marylanders don't claim you folks out there in no-man's land!

What is it with the track zamboni? That freakin thing moves slower than my truck.

Jet drier was pulled on a trailer by an early 90s Chevy Crewcab 1500.

09-28-2008, 10:29 PM
Yeah, that's all turned off in the tuning and I'm not overboosting (Mechanical fooler).

CEL never comes on, but I am running out of oil at the top end of the track in the race tune. P1211 (ICP above/below desired) always shows up. :banging::eek::D

Yeah you're right about that, even if I had an uber pump setup, I guess .1 ET max and maybe something up to 90.3mph is possible for back to back runs.

DIESEL
09-29-2008, 10:20 PM
What gear ratio and tire combo are you running?
It would be sad that a tune should make you run a slower 1/4.
Are you just running too much fuel?
I know I can out run my HPOP on the Level 5 and the truck seems accelerate better on Level 3.

You seem to be about 4 tenths slow on the big end for your 1/8 mile times.

Still great times for a damn 6k lb truck.

Well, I snuck out to Cecil tonight last minute tonight trying to get my 14.799 ET. Cool temps around 60 degrees.

First pass I made I pulled 14.770@89.74, followed by two low 14.8 passes later on. Towards the end of the night I dropped all 4 tires to 36PSI and launched at 1,900 RPMs, all my other runs were 1,600-1,700RPM. These two timeslips were the last of the night.

Have you tried running a lower setting on the tuner at the track just to see what happens?

Lord Tauk
10-11-2008, 10:30 AM
Thanks guys, I always think about running it in a different tune, but I always forget and don' bother.

ICP was 2,740PSI@51.79% 89MPH, 3,157PSI@46.88% 91 MPH. The highest I see is when I was letting off the throttle I think, 3387@27.34, 90MPH.

Temps are going to be in the upper 30s on Friday night Evan. You would be much better off heading to Maple Grove Saturday for the grudge racing/test & tune day. At least on Saturday the temps will by upper 50s/low 60s which should be ideal for your truck.

Better get a bottle heater also if you plan on doing any good in these colder temps. Don't worry about a gauge, the bottle will tell you when it's had too much!

Dave, have you thought of a small set of say 175cc hybrids? No more oil problem and won't break the rods. Easily pickup another half second with no other changes.

Lord Tauk
11-03-2008, 10:30 PM
Some day I will get the oil I need then get some injectors after. Probably will need a better turbo to go along with it too I think.

720Deere
11-03-2008, 10:55 PM
It seems that even with hybrids some sort of bigger oil becomes necessary. It's not cheap but from what I've seen it's the way to go.

No use in getting too carried away with those PMRs anyway!

238cc hybrids use less oil to actuate the injector then the factory AD's he's got.

175's wouldn't come close to that oil demand nor would he have to worry about breaking into 400 land w/o spray, a bigger turbo, or both!

175's will cost ya around 1800 and will cure both your injector and oil limitations.

FWIW, I put a set of 200cc hybrids w/ 100% nozzles in a truck a few weeks ago that already had the old TN JB on it. (Which is pretty comparable to a stock charger w/ an ATS intake housing and larger turbine). Anyway, in his highest setting tuned for those injectors he put down just a hair over 400 at Dillsburg.

I'll stack 2 IDMs, but seriously I'm pleased with the results I got for what the truck has.

I won't get injectors until a stock one has a problem, but then I might just get stock injectors. I'm not too interested in getting anymore out of my truck, I got most of my focus on Little Red but I need to pick up the pace.

Yeah I have yet to scale it , but I am assuming close to 6k.
I have to drive over an hour and a half to get to Ennis to run 1/4 mile.
The 1/8th mile track is just right up the road.

I wish I had your 4wd for the launch. Did you ever figure out your top end issue?

Yeah, I figured out the issue is when I pop the hood I see a 7.3L there with a single stock oil pump running in a race tune.:owned:

I can't ask much more from it, in my mind it's giving all its got but maybe able to squeeze a little something quicker out and adding twin oil pumps would help out but I still need more power to get the truck down the track faster.

Still haulin ass for a car , not to mention a 7k lb 4wd truck.

Lets see some more slips......
