Some 6.0l Diesel Engine Equipped 2005 Excursion Vehicles Built 1/10/2005 Or Later And 2005-2006 F-super Duty/e-series Vehicles May Exhibit A Metal Tapping Noise From The Rear Of The Engine On Deceleration, Light Acceleration Or When The Ipr Is At A Higher Duty Cycle. To Diagnose This Concern, In Park Or Neutral Active Command The Ipr To 45% While Listening With A Stethoscope On The Rear Engine Cover And High Pressure Pump (hpp) Cover. Increase Engine Rpm To 2800 Rpm, Then Let Off The Accelerator Pedal While Listening For The Noise. If The Noise Is Louder On Those Covers Than Any Other Part Of The Engine, Remove The Hpp Cover And Inspect For The Quick Connect Fitting Contacting The Rear Cover Due To An Improper Fit, Witness Marks May Be Evident On The Rear Cover. Replace The Quick Connect Fitting (male And Female) To Repair. Monitor Oasis For Updates
