I have an 05 cc/lb w/ 10" of lift 38" tires, sct programmer by Doug, airaid intake, 4" dual exhaust. The pile gets 9.7 mpg. What the? 9.7 Has any one else heard of such a problem. For all the smart guys I treat the truck like a Prince or is that Princess. I don't run it hard very often only to clean it out. Any ideas to help w/ the mileage
Don't say get rid of the big tires I understand im not going to get 17 but 9.7
Thanks in advance for any real advice

Is that reading on the overhead console or is it hand calculated?

38" hmmmmmm what is your gear ratio now?????
10" lift yep your basically a big BRICK so i would say 10 aint bad
38" skinnies or fat boys
get on it once week to ensure she knows how to run.
we get 15 empty if it helps
but 11 towing

I just made a run to Commerce, GA. The dually with alcoas in the rear and stock tires on the front got me 17.6mpg running between 75-80mph. Truck is lowered 3inches in the front and 5 inches in the rear.

I get 12 according to my overhead console. I have 6.5" of lift on 37X13.5X20's. I get approx 260 miles to the tank according to my odo. when I gas up. I run Dougs extreme tune (not lightly either). I am guessing I'm getting around 14mpg avg.

Mileage is hand calculated
12 wide wheels 15.5 toyo's
4.10 gears, but have had 4.56's also
Does anybody have a tru speed sensor and does it make a diffrence on how the truck runs?

I just got one for a guy a couple months ago. Im not sure if he has installed it yet. He is on 37s and wants to get it accurate. It is supposed to get the speedometer to within 1%. But deppending on how accurate the GPS is will be how accurate the Truspeed can get it. I think the first step would be to get the odometer accurate to cross that off the list, then start from there. Next things to look at will be load inputs to the pcm to see if its commanding extra fuel.

Hey man - Instead of the TruSpeed I run a Speed Wizard which is much easier to use. It sells at MerlinControls.com. I am also on 38's and I get in the 17mpg range when I keep my foot out of it on the highway, but I havent been able to get 18 yet. I'm running 3.73 gears for now... going to switch to 4.30's shortly. I usually get 15 or so when I'm getting on it with Dougs extreme tune (and I treat mine like a bitch... no prince or princess treatment from me). My numbers are all hand calculated... and correct!

I dont know what strategy I have, but Doug may remember. My truck has a build date of 11/03 so I still have the slow processor.
I have 8" DR lift, 38x15.5 Parnelli's, 16.5x12" Weld's, AiRaid intake, MBRP 3.5" downpipe & cat delete then it splits to dual 3" after that to 3.5" tips, Doug's SCT tunes, and after installing the SCT I needed traction bars to hold it all together.

Let me ask a dumb question. How many miles on your trip meter do you get to a half tank of fuel? What size tank. You don't have any other mods?

Talked with Marc. He put a truspeed in a truck similar to his and the speedo was off 9mph at 20mph. So we are interested to see how far his is off.
im running 4.10s with 38s and my speedo was about 15% off
i get 14-17 unloaded, and piss poor when towing (but most of the time i still run ~70 or more when towing soooo.....)

I usually stop at about 600-625 miles... low fuel light seems to come on about 625 or so. Half a tank is 300-325. The most fuel I have put in mine at one fill up is 39.2 gallons. My truck is a longbed with a 38 gallon tank. I have a speed wizard in mine, so my speedo is dead on. I have 3.73 gears and 38's.

You could always get a tank from an excursion and loose the spare tire.
