Made my way over here after my 05 Ex had to have lung surgery @ 18.5k miles...

New turbo  ....

had an "Extreme boost" tune from another SCT vendor that never seemed right to me and wonder if that did the turbo in or not....

Now with the new turbo and new flash have new strategy so I don't EVEN want to try the old tune....

Always got the impression my previous strategy was difficult to program for VAX or VDAX something..

Is this new one VXDB1M3 any easier strategy to tune ????

Driving around in stock mode is getting old :)

Thanks in Advance !
JB

What happend to the old turbo specifically? VXDB1M3 makes you a VXD0. I just did one of these the other day and the guy was pretty happy. Took some tweaking but nothing crazy. What were you after with the extreme boost tune?

Not sure what happened @ this point... too quick a turnaround..
HAD to have the truck back Sat, so bringin it in with a Whistle Thursday @ 5 PM and getting in back Friday nite with a new turbo was great....

EVERY once in a while used to get the P0299 or was it P2099 (overboost????) code when I REALLY ran it hard, but clear it and it wouldn't come back for months....

over the last few weeks noticed periodically that a low rpm hard accel condition would give me nothing but smoke.. almost like it was "lugging"..
but usually did ok otherwise...
then Thurs on the drive home, heard a whistle as if a window was slightly open... turned down the rock and roll - hit the window up - and still heard it under lite throttle....

now with r&r turbo after warm up have a new noise @ VERY lite throttle - sounds like the new turbo (must be a reman) has a ball bearing rattle under just off idle load....

will speak more to the svc dudette on Monday to see if they know anything...
but doubt it....

FYI, was not after the specific extreme boost tune....
just the only one out af MANY tunes from different tuners that worked what seemed like the best to me....

I came to realize my old strategy on the 05 Ex was a unique and must have been a difficult to tune strategy after 15 or so different tunes from all over....

Augie and I had similar issues but he must have had his resolved...
I got tired of trying on mine :D

Hoping to get a good tune,
or will sell the SCT if it's too unique a combination to tune.

like the idea of TC lock, EGR off, PI, and great HP when I NEED it,
but great mpg when I don't use it :)

One thing I might ask...
is there a way when u are at a steady state @ like 30 to 45 mph that it get into the higher gears rather than stay in third @ hi rpms ????
I have a LONG 30 mph road to get to the house... and I will typically accelerate up to 45 mph and let off so it will up shift so it's not crawling along @ 30 and screaming rpm's @ 2300 or so :)

Thanks in advance !

UH oh, that sounds bad. You must have a funky processor John. You rode in my truck, are you not getting that kind of power?

I haven't sent him the file yet. Auggie has the same code. His truck at 9 million lbs went 14.10 at Moroso back in April.

DP, The power was pretty good - I KNOW not as good as it could have been.. but it was flaky most of the time..

And having never been back to the shop since purchased much less flashed - it was probably a flaky bit of code stuck in the processor )

had lots of issues with trying to get someone to tune it...
after all - my timing was great - bought it from Mitch just before he was found out :)

so beggars couldn't be choosers :)

Augie and I had kept in touch during that time, but he had much more success than I did :)

He does have Mickey Thompson ATZ's which are like riding on concrete at 5psi or 80psi. I need to send John that file to see how his truck runs on it.
